At MeowHouse, our mission is to provide shelter and support to feral and abandoned kitties that come into our circle of care. As a dedicated part of the MeowHouse cat rescue, we believe that the feral cat population in Tehama County, along with all who encounter them, benefits from a reduction in their numbers and from receiving necessary medical attention. Local veterinarians perform vital services such as spaying and neutering, administering shots, and treating illnesses that arise from life in the wild. We work tirelessly to make this a reality.
At MeowHouse Cat Rescue, we currently offer a single but challenging program aimed at addressing the needs of the feral population and their medical requirements, as much as our funds allow. For the past several years, we have provided these services using primarily our personal resources. We hope that the public is passionate about the vital work we do, prompting them to donate in support of our program. As our resources grow, so will our program offerings. We are an all-volunteer organization.
This big boy is Smoky, also known as the Gentle Giant of Our Street, Grandmaster Smoke, Smoky Bo Bo, and Supreme Executive Chairman Meow (amongst MANY other illustrious titles). TECHNICALLY not the first kitty to actually arrive (that would be Halloween), but he was the first kitty we truly adopted as our own. Even today, his true breed eludes us, but we believe he is a Russian Blue. Since his first appearance at our home, he quickly proved himself a member of the family when he met our dog, Oscar. Unlike many cat & dog relationships, they quickly became best buddies, snuggling up to each other like long lost friends. More than anything, Smoky proved from the start that he's just a mellow fellow who could always go with the flow. Even with so many recent additions and changes, he seems to take it all in stride as long as he can come back in, get some food, and snuggle up like the gentle giant he is. For those interested in adopting a similar gentle spirit, checking out the MeowHouse Cat Rescue for those looking to expand their furry family.
